General Motors might have already come to a final decision about the future of its vehicle manufacturing operation in Australia.
Currently, its Holden subsidiary operates three manufacturing facilities in the country that have been propped up by previous government subsidies. The current coalition is less willing to help keep the company alive and earlier in the year, the company said it would halt production without renewed government support.
A new report suggests that GM will choose to pull the plug as early as 2016. An announcement was expected this week, but has been postponed until early next year.

If Holden stops building cars in Australia, it will mean the company shifting roles from being a domestic producer to a company that imports re-badged products. Currently, it sells a version of the South Korean-built Chevroelt Spark, Malibu, Volt and Cruze among several others.
Chevrolet just began importing the SS sport sedan to the U.S. with very little marketing. The full-size sedan is essentially a re-badged version of the VF Commodore that is also being used as the brand’s new Sprint Cup car.
