Holden shut down its Australian manufacturing operation in 2017, but not before going out with a bang.
According to a report from CarsGuide, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) will build its fastest ute yet, the V8 GTS Maloo. By taking the supercharged LSA engine found in the HSV GTS sedan, the supercharged Maloo will likely become one of the most collectible vehicles ever offered in Australia. The 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine produces 577 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque in the GTS, making the sedan the fastest and most powerful car Australia has ever produced.

It won’t just be the powerplant making its way to the ute, as the company plans on also integrating the stronger differential and additional engine and transmission cooling systems. Re-tuned handling components components from the HSV Maloo will be used as opposed to the magnetic-controlled suspension found in the GTS sedan to allow for towing if required.
The HSV GTS utes will be limited to just 150 units and buyers could be paying around $79,000 when they arrive at the end of the year.
